About
These pages contain details of the ten (thirteen!) reduced or microscale chemistry practicals I have in my microscale kit, initially kindly provided to me by Bob Worley/CLEAPSS in 2014.
I talked about four of the practicals at the 11th International Symposium on Microscale Chemistry (ISMChem2021) held online from the UK on 14th July 2021.
I'd like to thank Bob for initially sparking my enthusiasm for microscale chemistry and for his continued encouragement and support. You can find out more about Bob and his excellent and inspiring microscale chemistry work on his website, MicrochemUK, https://microchemuk.weebly.com/ and if you're active on Twitter, then follow him at @UncleBo80053383.
You can also read an excellent article by Bob in the latest edition of Science in School.
These resources are used annually by Dr Hoare for hands-on microscale chemistry workshops for the Science PGCE students (trainee teachers) at Newcastle University and also for bespoke CPD sessions in schools on request (and previously for CPD sessions run for the Royal Society of Chemistry and the Regional Science Learning Centres across the UK for teachers and/or technicians).
Please contact Peter (details below) if you would like further details or to book a CPD workshop for your school.
